What Tomorrow Will Bring You’re not on Broadway No standing ovations for the cold calculations you make No curtain call roses for the actress who made some mistakes How much more can I take This isn’t a movie No innuendos well hidden in grand final scenes No auditions to cast for the role of a lead drama queen Is this the way that it has to be Trying to figure it out But you don’t know what it’s about All you’ve been told up till now does not mean a thing You don’t know what tomorrow will bring No, you don’t know what tomorrow will bring This is a real story I’m lying here wondering how I will handle it all I’m listening to a soft rain as it gently falls I’m staring at shadows on empty walls Trying to figure it out But you don’t know what it’s about All you’ve been told up till now does not mean a thing You don’t know what tomorrow will bring No, you don’t know what tomorrow will bring

Letting Go 04:13
Letting Go I had a feeling, I’d have the right words to say I caught you stealing, my tender heart away The words they failed me, I let you take it away And now I’m naked, I kind of like it this way I never knew That letting go Could feel so free I had a handle, on how I thought it should be I made decisions, so that you would never see What I was hiding, way down deep inside of me I never knew That letting go Could feel so free Ohhh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh (x2) Now I know I never knew Who you are and what you do to me You and me we’ve got it made I can’t believe I was afraid to see How you are and what you do To make me want to keep on loving you I never knew That letting go Could feel so free Ohhh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh (x2) You’ve got my heart, you’ve got my soul You’ve got what I thought I’d never let go You’ve got my heart, you’ve got my soul You’ve got what I thought I’d never let go Ohhh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh (x4) I never knew That letting go Could feel so free

Hold On Now 05:23
Hold On Now Some people have stories they don’t like to tell The more I think about it, perhaps it’s just as well They say what you don’t know won’t hurt you Can this be true Or is it one more reason for them to hide those things they do Hold On Now Hold On Now Hold On Now Hold On Now Do you believe what you’re hearing Can you believe what you see The way that I was brought up isn’t staring back at me They say our fate’s in our own hands, these hands watch them bleed Let’s raise them up and show them all that we won’t let it be Whispering words of wisdom… Hold On Now Hold On Now Hold On Now Hold On Now We’ve got to let them know they are not the saviours We’ve got to show them all that we aren’t lying down We’ve got to give them everything that we’re all made of And strip them of their self-indulgent crowns And bring em’ down And bring em’ down Hold On Now Hold On Now Hold On Now Hold On Now Hold On Now Hold On Now Hold On Now Hold On Now Hold On Now Hold On Now

Love Me Baby 05:32
Love Me Baby What can I do to make you love me baby What can I do to make you love me baby What can I do to make you love me baby Can I take you by the hand and make you understand That I didn’t mean to do anything that would make you feel like you were nothing No, you’re everything to me That’s what I want you to see But you can’t What can I do to make you love me baby What can I do to make you love me baby What can I do to make you love me baby Can I win back your heart and have a fresh start Oh you’re nothing less than the girl that can rule my whole world With your beautiful smile Won’t you just stay for awhile No you can’t What can I do to make you love me baby What can I do to make you love me baby I’m asking you, what can I do to make you love me baby Oh, what can I do to make you love me baby Can I take back those words that cut you so deep Can I hold you once more while you fall asleep And feel my warm breath on the back of your neck Can you find it within you to have no regrets Can you help me to see what it would be like If we just held each other to make it feel right Can you find it within you to give one more try Cause I’m sitting here waiting and wondering why But you can’t No you can’t

Smelling Like Roses I was once struck by lightening You’d think It’d be frightening But it helped me to see I was flying a kite In the middle of the night The only time I had to be free Amidst the chaos and smoke I saw this old bloke And he smiled and he said to me When it’s all done, you’ll come out smelling like roses Yeah, when it’s all done, you’ll come out smelling like roses I was on the plains of Serengeti My palms were all sweaty And a beast was staring me down All that heat from the sun My first thought was to run The silence a deafening sound Instead I believed in what that bloke said to me And I ended up holding my ground He said When it’s all done, you’ll come out smelling like roses Yeah, when it’s all done, you’ll come out smelling like roses I was hanging by one hand Forty floors above the land I was told to never look down As I bit my lip, I felt my grip slip And the wind was blowing me all around I hung in for the haul, I didn’t let myself fall That bloke’s words kept me hanging around He said When it’s all done, you’ll come out smelling like roses When it’s all done, you’ll come out smelling like roses When it’s all done, you’ll come out smelling like roses

The One 04:24
The One Trying to keep it together when it’s falling apart It’s like when you were younger and afraid of the dark You need someone to hold you, and to say it’s alright Someone who will take care of everything that’s not right I’ll be the one to comfort I’ll be the one to hold I’ll be the one promise to never be the one to let you go I’ll be the one to never let you go I’ll be the one It was all so much better when you were able to care You believed you could take and had something to share I’ll be the one to comfort I’ll be the one to hold I’ll be the one promise to never be the one to let you go I’ll be the one to never let you go I’ll be the one You’ve got to let me, oh let me, be the one You’ve got to let me, oh let me, be the one You don’t trust any others, you never open your door You just act like a stranger, you don’t care anymore It’s a sad situation, one you never asked for And it’s time you made changes, you deserve so much more I’ll be the one to comfort I’ll be the one to hold I’ll be the one promise to never be the one to let you go I’ll be the one to never let you go I’ll be the one to never let you go I’ll be the one to never let you go I’ll be the one

Someday, Someway The day she left with regret Under the sky that don’t forget She only remembered the kiss That filled her heart with emptiness Someday, somebody’s gonna love you Someway, somebody’s gonna need you Good things are gonna come your way Someday, somebody’s gonna love you Someway, somebody’s gonna need you Your remedy is on the way When the watchman sees you move on by Like a tempest you wake the morning sky All those things that I said of you Come back through the mirror it’s so true Someday, somebody’s gonna love you Someway, somebody’s gonna need you Good things are gonna come your way Someday, somebody’s gonna love you Someway, somebody’s gonna need you Your remedy is on the way Spread your wings to the wind Feel the sun warming your skin Breath the sweet sounds as you fly Hold in your arms all that you find Someday, somebody’s gonna love you Someway, somebody’s gonna need you Good things are gonna come your way Someday, somebody’s gonna love you Someway, somebody’s gonna need you Your remedy is on the way Someday, somebody’s gonna love you Someway, somebody’s gonna need you Good things are gonna come your way Someday, somebody’s gonna love you Someway, somebody’s gonna need you Your remedy is on the way

That’s Why I Love You You know that you are the only one for me You know that this is a fact with which I will never disagree You keep me from going the wrong way When it’s the only way I know For this I need to tell you that it’s why I love you so That’s why I love you, that’s why I love you so I hope you don’t mind me singing it out cause I want the world to know You give me all of the loving that I need Your kindness and affection are always offered up for free You’re the one that keeps me honest That’s not easy for you I know For this I need to tell you that it’s why I love you so That’s why I love you, that’s why I love you so I hope you don’t mind me singing it out cause I want the world to know You bring me up whenever I’m feeling down You’re a friend and a lover and a pleasure to be around You say it the way you see it and you do it the way you know For this I need to tell you that it’s why I love you so That’s why I love you, that’s why I love you so I hope you don’t mind me singing it out cause I want the world to know That’s why I love you, that’s why I love you so I hope you don’t mind me singing it out cause I want the world to know

Break Me 04:40
Break Me Can you help me to see the way it should be Cause I’m blinded and I can’t see the light These vices I hold, they’re making me old But they help me to get through the night The choices I’ve made weren’t the ones to be played It’s easy to see in hindsight You hold out your hand, please know I understand I know what I’m doing is wrong, how can I make it alright Take me, you’ve got to break me Take the reins and saddle me down I’ll put up a fight but at the end of the night Baby, will you stay around Oh yeah, will you stay around Baby, will you stay around Well it’s so complicated and I know you’re frustrated With the way I’ve been living my life It’s a shame you can’t see what it’s doing to me All the pain, the trouble and strife From all that I do, your strength it shines through The tension you can cut with a knife If you ‘ll help me find all that I’ve left behind There’ll be no more excuses for handing out all of those lies Take me, you’ve got to break me Take the reins and saddle me down I’ll put up a fight but at the end of the night Baby, will you stay around Oh yeah, will you stay around Baby, will you stay around

about

VK is the husband and wife team of Steve and Marni Van Kessel.
Legends of THE DEEP is a talented collection of musicians, Jamey Heidman (bass), John Lebarr (guitar), Sean Murray (keys) and Roger Stanley (drums), who channel each other’s verve for truly great performances.

VK emerged from the local music scene about a decade ago and have been striking all the right notes ever since, putting out songs receiving critical attention, including from Blues and Roots Radio Worldwide, and building a loyal audience. With three albums to date, their own recording studio and indie label called 112 Records, VK has also been an important factor in the careers of other local musicians, helping them gain a foothold and build momentum.

The genesis of Charm was in 2018 when VK formed Legends of THE DEEP for the live release of their second album Terms & Conditions. This grouping of musicians proved providential and it inspired the bluesy, Americana folk-rock vibe of the new album. Recorded over the long winter months of 2019, the sound and style are rooted in the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s tunes of their formative years, yet the themes and lyrics are relevant to folks two decades into the 21st century.
